Jennah Hart

Jennah Hart is a British abstract painter who graduated from Arts University Bournemouth in 2022 with First Class Honours in Fine Art. Working through repetitive, tactile processes, she develops her paintings over extended periods of time, allowing chance encounters between paint, surface, and gesture to shape each work as much as intention.

Tracing the shifting shadows from her surroundings, Hart captures fleeting moments before gradually reworking them through successive layers of paint. Applied, removed, washed, and sanded back, these traces persist in altered forms, becoming embedded within the painting’s evolving surface. The works function as sites of sedimentation, where memory and material entwine rather than settle into fixed form.

Responding to a sense of dislocation within a culture oriented towards continual acceleration, Hart’s paintings engage with remembrance as an act through which the past is continually transformed. Through light, colour, and texture, they evoke atmosphere rather than image, dwelling in the distance between what was lived and what is remembered.
